Easter Morning 2006

I was only 34 years old on that Easter morning in 2006. I had pain in my right breast but thought it was because I was due for my period. While I was taking a shower, I decided to do a self breast exam and to my surprise I felt a small lump. I went to the doctor the next day and had a mammogram. After that, everything happened so quickly. I was diagnosed with HER2 Positive Breast Cancer and needed a full mastectomy, followed by chemo and radiation. I also needed a full year of Herceptin which targets the HER2 specifically. I am almost 38 years old now and living life to the fullest. Early detection saved my life and my family's.
